THE TRAVEL BUG

Less than 30 days ago I was in Jamaica on my honeymoon. Why does it feel like it was at least a year ago?! I am feeling in need of a vacation and wish we were going somewhere and have the urge to book a flight. Only one problem… I quit my job this week and we are on a major budget! I’m not a huge fan of “staycations” – probably because I still haven’t completely fallen in love with the state I live in. (I’m working on that!) So I’ve been searching for cheap vacation options for this summer.

We plan to go somewhere for a long weekend, or at least I am planning on that and Ryan will find out about it later. Ha ha. I am turning the big 3-0 at the end of August and would like to go on a little getaway so I’ve been on the hunt. I wanted to share what I’ve found with you! Mind you, these are all flying out of Dayton or Cincinnati, Ohio and there are much cheaper airports to fly out of! Here are the steals:

Flights under $200 to Orlando – so I know I’m turning 30 but I really want to go to Orlando one last time before having kids!

Flights under $200 to Denver – there’s SO much to do in Denver and it is beautiful. I would love to rent a cabin for the weekend.

Flights slightly over $200 to Las Vegas – so this isn’t the most family friendly destination but there is so much to do here!

If you’re in the Midwest or like me, in Ohio there are a lot of great places that are driving distance that will save money like:

Tennessee! It is within driving distance so I am wanting to go to Nashville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, etc. etc. – another place I would love to just rent a cabin and getaway!

Chicago – I just drove here with a friend for my bachelorette party in March and it wasn’t that bad of a drive (except the way home after drinking all weekend!). Of course things in Chicago are a bit expensive but there is so much to do on a budget there!

Where are you going this summer or do you have ideas where we should go?

  1. you just can’t imagine how lucky you are to be able to fly to las vegas only for 200$! I’m from spain and the same getaway would cost me 600 more or less πŸ™ share on your blog pics if u finally go there πŸ™‚

  2. You have a great list ! The airfare is really cheap ! Wow. I think my choice would probably be the cabin one – but you know, Disney World is always a great choice. πŸ™‚

This Summer I am going to my sister Island Tobago. We go every year, so it has become a nice Summer tradition. πŸ™‚

    1. Haha I am such a planner (obviously deciding what to do 3 months from now lol) I’m not sure I could ever decide the night before! I wish I were more like that!
